Cook – Part Time

Guest House Retreat & Conference Center, located in southern Middlesex County, is currently seeking a part time cook. The ideal candidate lives locally and is self-motivated, energetic, a team player, and demonstrates a strong work ethic. The successful candidate will possess a commitment to customer service excellence and a serious desire to learn and grow in the food service industry. Hospitality experience and interest in cross-training in other departments are a plus.

The cook reports to the executive chef. The starting salary is $14.00 per hour. We have a casual, friendly environment and offer a flexible schedule. Hours vary week to week based on events schedule. Must be available Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and as needed.  The selected candidate will undergo criminal and employment background checks.

RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare creative, thoughtful meals adhering to the highest standards of Guest House
  • Ensure meals are out on time, every time
  • Maintain ServSafe certification
  • Promote workplace safety
  • Maintain a positive attitude
  • Interact with guests in a friendly, professional, and caring manner
  • Accommodate dietary requests and restrictions
  • Other tasks, possibly outside of primary job description, as assigned by management

Skills and requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year experience, or will train the right individual
  • ServSafe certification

Dining Services Associates – Part Time

Guest House Retreat & Conference Center, located on Route 148 at the Chester/Killingworth town line, is currently seeking part time dining services associates. The ideal candidates live locally and are self-motivated, energetic, team players who demonstrate a strong work ethic. The successful candidates will possess a commitment to customer service excellence. Interest in cross-training in other departments is a plus. This is a great opportunity for students.

The starting salary is $12.00 per hour. Dining services staff report to the executive chef. We have a casual, friendly environment and offer a flexible schedule, including after school hours. Hours vary week to week based on events schedule. Must be available Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  • Washing dishes
  • Warmly greeting guests when they enter the dining areas
  • Ensuring guest satisfaction by maintaining the dining areas
  • Restocking dining room amenities
  • Cleaning & sanitizing all dining and work areas
  • Support in housekeeping and/or facilities as needed
  • Other tasks as assigned by management

Housekeeper – Part Time

Guest House Retreat & Conference Center, located in southern Middlesex County, is seeking a part time housekeeper to help maintain our beautiful facility. The ideal candidate lives locally and is interested in cross-training in other departments. Must possess a strong commitment to customer service excellence, be self-motivated, energetic, a team player, and demonstrate a strong work ethic. We have a casual, friendly environment, and offer meals when available and other benefits.

The starting salary is $13.00 – $13.50 per hour. The housekeeper position reports to the lead housekeeper. Hours vary week to week based on events schedule. Must be available Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and as needed. The selected candidate will undergo criminal and employment background checks.

RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  • Breakdown/setup, cleaning and re-stocking of guest rooms, bathrooms and common areas, including following current State of CT Covid-19 cleaning and safety requirements
  • Laundry: washing, drying, folding bed linens & towels
  • Maintain a consistent, high standard of cleaning
  • Other tasks as assigned by management

JOB REQUIREMENTS include:

  • Ability to work flexible schedule, including Fridays and weekends, as-needed
